April 24, 2014 Homemade Q*bert Costume
Some days I just search for “Q*bert” online and see what pops up. Most of the time it’s something I’ve seen a bunch before – I mean, it’s been close to 30 years since Q*bert’s heyday, let’s be honest. There isn’t going to be much new stuff, even though there should be. My mom has said if I get her a pattern that she’ll make me a Q*bert quilt, so once that’s done there’ll be something new, but that’s a ways off yet.
Imagine my surprise when I ran across this blog entry. It’s from October 2013, and it’s just about the cutest thing. Short version, in case you’re click-averse, is that a mom made a Q*bert outfit for her baby. I’ve included a picture here (and specifically chose the one that doesn’t show the baby’s face, because I’m aware it’s weird if someone you don’t know posts your baby’s picture) so you can see it.
I love this for a few reasons:
- It’s Q*bert (natch)
- It’s a new Q*bert thing – I love when people make things inspired by things they like. I like to think I’d do this sort of thing if I knew how to crochet/knit/sculpt/paint/build/etc.
- The baby in question is just wearing it, no big deal
- The mom is planning to pair it with an orange onesie
Way to go, cool mom!
