I guess I just like liking things

Close_EncountersThe only reason I’m even bothering with this year is because of Star Wars. I remember so little about most of these, the only six I’ve seen from this year:

6. Saturday Night Fever – John Travolta plays a jerk who dances well. That is pretty much the plot to this movie. It’s a neat snapshot of the time period, but I imagine the only people who actually like this movie are fans of disco.

5. The Spy Who Loved Me – Roger Moore Bond. That’s all I have to say about that.

4. Kentucky Fried Movie – The absolute best thing about this movie is the half-hour spoof of Enter the Dragon. My absolute favorite thing about the Enter the Dragon spoof in this movie is the warning alarm guy.

3. Annie Hall – Widely regarded as Woody Allen’s best movie, and the only plot point I can remember is Diane Keaton’s outfit with the tie.

2. Close Encounters of the Third Kind – The best thing that came out of this is Weird Al’s mashed potato pyramid homage in UHF.

1. Star Wars – It’s crazy that this movie came out in 1977. The special effects were mind-blowing then and held up for a long, long time. Too bad that George Lucas started losing his mind about two seconds after making this one.
