February 9, 2015 Weird Al’s 4th Grammy
Weird Al won a Best Comedy Album Grammy for Mandatory Fun last night, his fourth overall. Here’s his acceptance speech:
He beat out Jim Gaffigan, Louis C. K., Patton Oswalt, and Sarah Silverman for the award this year, and that’s kind of a crazy group. I mean, I know they can’t have a “Musical Comedy Album” section, because Al’s really the only game in town as far as that’s concerned, but it feels a little weird for him to be lumped in with the spoken comedy people.
Al’s Grammy wins to date:
- 1985: Best Comedy Album for “Eat It”
- 1988: Best Concept Music Video for “Fat”
- 2004: Best Comedy Album for “Poodle Hat”
- 2015: Best Comedy Album for “Mandatory Fun”
Congratulations, Al! It couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.

It is perhaps his best record, and fitting he should win.
